Sometimes you can tell by looking at the tail. Males have a longer more tapered tail than females of the same size. It is hard to tell though if you don't have experience. There may be more male Kings available in the pet stores but the difference in value between male and female Kings is not as great as it is in Ball Pythons so there is a greater likelyhood of finding a female King in a pet store than there is with Balls. You would probably be better off finding someone to probe it for you.
