I believe once you move here, you will find that our kingsnakes at lower elevations are below the surface for a much longer period then there eastern and northern brothers. The reason is, we have more confining conditions. We have unsuitable cold, we have unsuitable heat, and the big kicker, we have lack of moisture. All these drive kingsnakes underground.
