Take look under your appliances, frig, stove, etc. Lots of times they will seek out a warm spot in the house and hole up until they are hungry. My field partner collected a large 6' black rat this last summer and it escaped within a few days. He tore the house apart and assumed it had slipped out a door that had been left open. I mean how hard would it be to find a 6' snake in a house?? Well the next day his wife called him at work hysterical because the snake was crawling down their hallway!!

So you never know where they will find a place to curl up and hide. Just keep looking and it will turn up.
