I think maybe its because of the income level at least in Cumberland county. Herp ownership and care can get very expensive. Most pet stores in the area are really only interested in making a profit and have incompetent staff. I think most of the people in this area that buy herps buy them on a wim or because an 8 year old thinks it looks cool, then after a week or two they lose interst. I get most of my big ticket items online because even after shipping its less expensive, the prices in the local pet store are ridiculous.I now own a bearded dragon and a eastern painted turtle, i also had a savannah monitor wich I rescued from a pet store and a emerald swift. If anyone finds anything out about a society please inform I just started to hang out in theses forums mostly the turtle, bearded dragon, monitor and tegu forums. As far as a herp show nearby there will be one in Phila. Valley Forge conv. center King of prussia PA. On Sept 2 and 3 Check it out on www.philadelphiareptileexpo.com Good luck and keep herping! | ||
