I've been kind of peeved that there aren't any herp societies or clubs in NJ anymore as well. I'm a member of an online turtle care forum but it would be nice to have a group more local to me to talk about local items, etc. There is also only so much members can do to help each other out when they are so spread apart. In that regards a NJ herp discussion group through one of the free forum services would work so long as someone is willing to administrate and some moderators can be dug up. That would provide everyone at least one level of insulation should the state decide to try and pick on the group since there would be no address, name, etc associated with the memberships and no dues collected.
