looks pretty good to me, if I were to look at it critically, I would suggest using a higher F-stop (might like a little more depth of field) and I would clone out that sprig of thyme or whatever it is that is in focus just behind his tongue. I might have framed it with more dead space to his left (right side of the frame); it looks like he is looking at something, but i think a little more of the frame is needed in order to really convey that message. Keep shooting, you're certainly doing a lot better than most people who are self-proclaimed newbies.
