I agree, that's a red-eared slider. The raised scutes like that are common in captivity; I believe it comes from a high-protein diet, but don't quote me on it. No map I've ever seen has red post-temporal spots, and their carapacial scutes are not raised like those in the photo- there's just a strong keel down the center of the vertebral scutes.
