Hypomelanism is a simple recesive trait. However there are many different strains that are not compatible. There are several wild populations of kings that tend to have hypos and others that contain hypermelanistics.
No melanistic is not the same anerythiristic. Melanism is more black snake. Anery is with without yellow (or red?) so I guess an anery king would be a desert phase, haha.
