Females are the rarer commodity in cresteds because most breeders still hold them back. We all know how good pet stores are at taking care of the animals sometimes. It is probably a case of them still being young enough there isn't a problem. (I hope.)

I was apparently "lucky" we just picked out a random baby and ended up with a female. The trend should be changing soon I would think, save for the high end morphs. But what you reported has been echoed here.
