I have used Ivermectin with out any problems to kill red mites on a number of different lizard species, including Crocodile geckos. Use a Q-tip to get it into the hard to reach areas like the tail scales, and then pull as many of them off (or out) as you can with pointed tweezers. The commercial mite sprays seem to work just as well using this method and may be safer.
