I'm not a video guy, but as far as I know YouTube and other such sites use a 4:3 aspect ratio so 16:9 wouldn't show well (black borders above and below).
For posting online, I don't think you need very high resolution and you certainly don't want the increased file size.

I'm sure YouTube has a FAQ that answers that stuff.
