My only advice would be to add a "hot spot" for thermoregulation. I keep my snakes in relatively simple setups and favor "Kritter Cages" for smaller snakes. Here are a pair of garters that I produced this Summer (pic below).
Your snake looks like an Eastern Garter, but knowing the location (city, state) where it was found will lead to a more positive ID.
It's hard to say if a snake would get so used to being fed that it would no longer hunt if released back into the wild.
