Well you certainly can. Genetics is open field right now, many things to learn and many genes to document. I doubt that many species of snakes have been researched genetically. Someone would have to do the research and identify marker genes etc. Here is something that might interest you, it is an online Genome database, maybe you can become a pioneer in this?
