I was thinking the same thing as well. But my thought was more that this would increase some peoples' fears of large constrictors; depicting them as evil. People still do believe snakes are related to evil forces, the Devil, etc.

On the other hand, after the first couple films came out with the burm, people I interacted with recognized the burms we had as "being from the movie" and approached it in confidence and admiration.

It all depends on the person!
