Some people don't even intentionally "cool" their snakes. Some people just put a male and female together and their snake room temperature naturally fluctuates with the outside weather which is apparently good enough to stimulate the male and female to breed. I've heard of at least one case of this off the top of my head but I'm sure there are more.
