Can an American alligator(Alligator mississippiensis) cross with a Black caiman (Melanosuchus niger)?
I have been told that Yacare caimans (Caiman yacare) can successfully cross with Spectacled caimans ((Caiman crocodilus) thus producing offspring such as the Diamond caiman. Is this true and can the same be done with a Black caiman and an American alligator thus producing a hybrid ("allicamian" or "caimagator"?
Deepest apologies if this is in the wrong forum and in no way shape or form am I advocating hybrids.
