I agree with Bill about the Nolvasan (or chlorhexidine gluconate). I use it as well, and it removes the odor better than soap or Windex or anything else that you find at a local market.
His advice about cleaning the cages soon is also helpful in combating the worst odor.
Seems that boa and pythons smell worse, but that could be due to sheer volume of waste with those animals. I have a very small snake room. Not very many snakes anymore. When I clean cages routinely and use the chlorhexidine, the room has no odor most of the time. It is a requirement for me to keep the room smelling as if there are no animals in it. Wife's rules.
