Another thing that is very important is: If the two of you do not come home for what ever reason, that a responsible person near by can get in and take the dogs out of your home. That way they are safe and not taken by animal authorities like SPCA. Not sure if they is against the law, but I have made provision for just that scenario. Also leave an emergency number in plain site to see.
