This doesn't sound normal. Is this an actual avian vet you are seeing? Both of the avian vets we deal with work with birds basically from hatching on up so they are quite used to what is and isn't normal. If your vet is not used to seeing young birds I would definitely suggest trying to find one that is used to young birds.
