My male spotted turtle died today. I am remarkably upset about it. He never did eat. I took him to the vet and have been injecting him to help with his pnemonia, which seemed to disappear...but he never ate. I am totally bummed.

Can you recommend a breeder? I want to replace him.

On another note. My female is suppose to lay eggs in a few weeks. Do you put the eggs in an incubator or leave them in the sand and let nature run its course?

That is why c.b. babies are the best. I do know that yours are wild caught but it would seem. I would place the eggs in an incubator at 87 degrees. This temp will result in all female babies.

Paul, man, sorry to hear about that. If I were you, I'd seriously take it up with the person who sold you the turtles. I mean, if he's claiming that they are captive bred then something must have happened during transit. Either that or he sold you one of his breeders that had failing health and wasn't worth it to him anymore. I'm sorry to be cynical, but it sounds like this turtle came to you in a bad way. It typically takes months for an adult turtle to tank like that. Well, maybe you just don't want the extra aggravation.

It sounds like Tom is a good breeder...how 'bout it Tom? Don't mean to put you on the spot...get it, SPOT. Sorry, I thought Paul could use some humor.

I currently only have c.b. 06 babies that might be for sale and they were all incubated to be female. I want to keep them but you can't keep them all. I did see what looked like TURE captive bred pairs for sale on the classifieds. The males were only $100 each. The sellers name is Marc P. I would buy some myself if they had more spots. Take a look and tell me what you think!

A few things to get caught up:

Yes, I am sure the breeder sent me an ill turtle. He never did eat and I spent over $200 at the vet trying to keep him alive. I remain very bummed out.

How do I get ahold of the guy with the male turtles?

Finally, my female is likely to lay eggs shortly [per the same breeder who sold me the male...]and I need to understand how to incubate the eggs. What incubator do you recommend? Do you put the eggs in immediately? What other secrets can you share with me...or can you steer me to a good website that explains all of this?

Thanks again!
