gila hibernation question

I am new to keeping gilas and was wondering if i should put them down for winter.one is 2yrs old and one is about 8mo. old.also what temp do you keep them at.

I would recommend between 50 and 60 degrees.

Been trying to find out what you heard on the horridum permit rumor, see posts below. Was your source in CDFG by any chance? and did his name start with a "K"?

Like to hear back on this if you can take a minute to respond.

No, I haven't heard anything new. CDFG was not my source, but a friend of one of the permitted gila breeders in the state.

Ahhh, I know who you are talking about now, I had the same conversation. I am doubtful they would follow through on it because it would negate the reasoning behind the hurdles for a permit to work with gilas.

Since neither are of breeding age I wouldn't hibernate until they are both 2-1/2 to 3 years of age and only when they are both of breeding age and if you have a male and a female or if you have another owner that has the opposite sex for breeding loan. Otherwise I would continue on a normal feeding schedule and temps.
