Central American Wood Turtle...

TJ. Feb 23, 2007 05:42 PM

Finally got a pic of one of my 2 adopted C.A. Wood Turtles. Here's the male on the roof of their new "parking garage". Since I added this feature to a corner of their little rain forest habitat they seem to spend much less time actually burrowing down into the substrate. I guess they just like hangin out in the shade. The background scenery is covered with clear plexiglass to keep it from getting scratched and wrinkled. I'll post pics of their whole set-up next time. the backdrop probably gives him a little feeling of safety. That's cool he seems to like it. I'm refurbing my ornate woods' tank, it'll have a backdrop, a sectioned off swimming hole, lots of deep substrate to dig, it'll be a regular luxury hotel for them.

Yours have a water hole yes? Alot of keeper dont realise they need a water hole to hang out, rehydrate, males like it for uh guy reasons, and they like to breed in the water. I think it makes it easier for them.
