what the hell is an eritrean plated lizard?

No clue...I did a search on it and found absolutely nothing! I'd be interested to know though.

I would assume (and more than likely be correct) that eritrean plated lizard was just a moniker popped on whatever was imported that week. Just because a lizard is called something doesnt make it correct. Hell, go to any reptile show, and you will usually be able to find some very mislabled animals. Trade names mean nothing-get a proper Id on the animal and just go by the latin, if you can.

yea i know they are g validus, what i have that is, but i was jsut wondering why the hell they put eritrean!!!

I've noticed a couple of people on this board mention that the pet stores that they bought their plateds from seem to place the wrong name with them. From what I've gathered, they aren't "popular" reptile pets...as compared with, let's say, Leopard Geckos or Bearded Dragon. Your guess is as good as mine why they attached the eritrean to his name. At first, I was thinking, hey cool...a new plated I've not heard of, and now I have put two and two together about misrepresentation in pet stores.
