Hello All,

I just have a quick question. Is it possible, with heavy dutyh treatment, lots of time and money, and a little love to treat file snakes for the fungus that perpetually kills them? If not, are there any fully aquatic snakes that are hrady and commanly kept in capticvity?

(Okay, so I lied. That was acctually two questins. Sorry.)

P.S. Does this thing have Spell Check? I don't spell wrong, just differntly.

All You need is knowledge. There are no "Treatments" for the White spot--just eliminate the stress.

Would low amounts of chlorine kill the snake? They'd kill the fungus.

Dont do that, it might not directly kill it but it will take a slow toll on its health. Oh if you right click on the mouse you should have a spell check.

i've been keeping them for almost 6 months now and since then i havent encountered any serious problems.. the white spots disappeared within a few sheds without any medications (provided with proper husbandry).. now i have 5 A. granulatus and every1 of them is a very good eater.. i havent experienced deaths with these snakes so i guess i'm doing the right thing.. i have more problems with my nerodia then filesnakes.. good luck

Thank You, gorio. That is what I have learned and what I am trying to get across to people: Eliminate Stress through Proper Husbandry and these snakes do well. No "medications"/"Treatments" are necessary.

np, you should give A. granulatus one more try.. its amazing how these guys wolf down 5 minnows and hunting again in the next hour.. BTW, A. granulatus also produces solid waste.. kinda creamy white and looks heavy because it sits at the bottom..
