only brown Anoles in Miami ?

TwoSnakes Sep 29, 2007 02:05 PM

Hello
Just moved to Miami have noticed only brown anoles have not seen a single green anole in 2/3 weeks of being here.
Few green bushes in backyard but loaded with brown anoles only.
Are the green anoles only found in certain areas and I was under impression the greens were hardier than the browns ?

Thanks

The brown anole will eat green anole baby?

The green anoles will be more arboreal. Look in small trees, etc. The greens are much less common as you already know. If you keep looking in/on trees, you will may Cuban Knight anoles, bark anoles, etc depending on what part of Miami you are in.

I apologize for not responding earlier but forgot to mark off notify of reply when I posted this.

I have seen knight anoles (well could be same one I have seen 3 times) as I throw old fruit, vegetables etc under the trees for fertilizer and it attracts bugs which has become an anole ,5 lined skink feeding area . I enjoy watching them

The knight anole is huge .

I have seen 2 green anole since I posted this and your right the brown anoles go from ground to tree, etc the green anoles were both on trees waiting for bugs but not venturing on ground

Thanks

Green anoles can be found in decent numbers in certain areas in Miami, particularly the more wild areas such as parks. There are several green anoles that live in front of my suburb house.
