Blind anole-please help

sianno Nov 06, 2007 09:01 PM

Ok, I have 3 anoles. 2 are males-yes i know now that i shouldn't have, won't do it again-but one is now blind. It looks like both eyes have crustish stuff over it. I've been trying to clean it but i don't really want to try wiping-not sure if it will hurt the lizard-so i've just been dripping water on it. Probably pointless but i gotta try. There are no vets in my area that know about lizards and the pet store person doesn't really know what to do. The blind anole is adapting-still able to catch crickets when they hop over/by him, and can find his way slowly across the cage-but i would still like to do something about it. It makes him more tame-he doesn't know when my hand is near him and can't see to run off when i pick him up-but i don't like it being because he can't see. So any tips or advice would be very nice.

I had a female anole with this problem on one eye...I kept misting it, and thought she would be blind in that eye for good until one day the crusty part must have come off in a shed.

I think it has something to do with improper shedding. Other than having proper humidity and something kind of rough for them to scratch on, I don't know what to tell you!

Good luck!
