cresties and mating questions

Just wondering on a couple of things the books don't really tell you and I have bought the books.........

once the female is gravid, does the male continue to chase and mount her or does he leave her alone for awhile?

We have a one and 3/4 year old female who is small - weighs 26 grams and has for a few months - I think she is simply a small gecko period - how much longer do we have to wait to put her in with the male? We've had them both out at the same time and he certainly seems interested in her. She eats crickets and CGD regularly and eats well - just doesn't get bigger.

Thanks!

I do not breed my females until they are at least 35-40 grams. From a raising stand point, many of mine take a year or a little more to reach that size.

The males will still show an interest in her but she will typically not be interested once gravid. Unless I have a good hunch that she is gravid or if he is overly aggressive after having the opportunities to copulate (actully seeing them do it or constantly seeing the pre-ritual habits through a span of 3 weeks or so)I usually only separate after the first eggs are layed. I do not want any sort of stress on her from having him around. Some people do not separate them at all. To each their own.

My opinion only. Hope this helps.
