Hello. I currently just finished a 6x5x5 feet enclosure for my 2 Basilisk. I am looking into getting live plants and have seen some in some enclosure pictures, that i *think* are live plants.

Which plants would be good? I have read Pothos are good, but what other ones?

I like some of the Viny ones, but am curious if they are infact real or for the vines should I just use fake ones?

Also, what type of soil can I use for plants that is NOT harmful to my lizard if they happen to digest it?

Thanks in advance!

Suggestions for suitable live plants include dragon plants (Dracaena), pothos (Scindapsus aureus), Ficus benjamina trees, Monstera deliciosa (philodendron) and staghorn ferns. Plants will need to be replaced as they are shredded by claws or eaten.

Hmm, Pothos are toxic?

Pothos are on the safe list

They are actually on the list on "Edible and Toxic" list

high in oxalic acid - pothos may be offered to iguanas only in moderation

So I guess if they don't eat them it's ok. I have heard a lot use them.

Anyways, know of any smaller tree types that don't get too big (Maybe 2-3feet tall at the most, but have bigger branches?)

Basilisks trash pothos in my experience. I draped my cages in those aquatic green fake plants and it looks nice, doesnt die and i'm fungus gnat free. I'm no horticulturalist though, just a lizard nerd. show us some pics if you find a setup that works!

i am a huge advocate for live plants but imo it's a waste for water dragons and basilisks. i just buy the huge vines from michaels when i get 40% off coupons and they look good enough.
