eggs, clueless

fantasyxbabygurl Jun 14, 2008 10:33 PM

I work at petco and we clearanced out our fire skinks. the day someone took them an associate noticed 4 eggs that must have beed layed the same day (we clean out cages daily) so we put them in some moist moss in a "see-through" plastic container and put the lid on and i kept them under a lamp (not too hot though) until i brought them home.

They are still in the cup and moss in my reptile room. Since i the room is about 85 degrees and thats what i read they need i dont have any heat on them. Im just wondering if theres anything else i need to do? They are about 3 days old right now. I also wondered about the container they are in. Should i keep it closed? it keeps the humidity in well....its packed with moss so i dont think the air holes are doing much. or should i open it and just mist it once a day to keep it moist in there? im not sure if it "too" moist with the condensation on the inside touching the eggs.

Any help or tips will be appreciated.

I found skink eggs in the yard while weeding, etc and put them in plastic little container just like you with holes in lid like you I didnt add extra heat as kept them in patio where it was 80 to 90 degrees .
I couldnt leave them as was throwing out the fallen palm tree that eggs were found under

However I noticed when I found them they were in slightly humid area but not wet type humidity so just lightly sprayed them once or twice a day but didnt want it wet in the container.

Either way after month 1 egg died as got fungus the other 2 sprouted little brown lizards not sure if skinks and let them go.
I think your doing it correctly you just dont want it wet or eggs get fungus thats why I lost 1 egg but you want them slightly humid never dry
