AST and Common Snapper Fighting

NHSnappers Jul 21, 2008 05:03 PM

Hi Guys and gals. My AST and Common both around 8-9" started fighting pretty badly today. Is this common or should I seperate them ? The common snapper is kind of like humping the ally snapper and biting it's neck or feet which ever is easier to get ahold of.

You should separate them. Snappers are capable of causing serious injury to other turtles; a friend of mine had a juvenile common snapper decapitate several larger emydids it was kept with in a one-night killing spree.
