Sugar glider cage for Cham?

drbob Nov 15, 2008 12:46 PM

I have a cage that once held sugar gliders and was wondering if it can be used to house a Veiled or Panther?

The bar spacing is ˝ inch wide and the wire construction is finished in a heavy powder coated (animal safe) paint containing no lead or zinc. The cage measures 36 inches tall, 32 inches wide, and 21 inches deep.

what would be the drawbacks of using something like this over a screen cage except for maybe cricket containmnet?

Thanks

I'm no expert but I don't see any huge problems using a cage like this. I've heard of people using bird cages which seems similar to yours. You would need to feed in a different cage or train chameleons to eat from feeding cups. I wonder if a chameleon's foot could get caught in the spacing between bars like a kid getting their head stuck in the bannister. good luck!

I've used cages similar to that. Had no issues.

The Sugar Glider cage may be even better then a screen cage. Reason being, They would have more climbihg area along the bars and the screencages do not allow as much UV light to penetrate because the thin screening fiters outmore ofthe UV rays.
