WOOHOO-Gravid Trinidad Ruschenbergerii

I am convinced she is carrying something-if she drops anything but babies then I am at fault for screwing something up. This is one of those serendipities-I never saw copulation as they had 2 hide boxes; one on the hot side and one on the cool side of the cage.
Nick, your male did you proud...

Enjoy,
Jeff

Are those white Visions? WHere did you get those, I like them!!!!!!??????

boidsonly Jun 05, 2009 06:18 PM

AHH, A youngster are you?
Those Visions are the very first stab at caging that Vision produced in the early 1990's. I, personally, prefer them over the granite color but the masses spoke and granite won out.
I have 14 of the cages that you see in the photo. I also have 2 of the white arboreal cages, before they produced the granite arboreal that has the horrible shroudlike thing that wastes space and prevents you from mounting a radient heat panel on the inside roof.
Just goes to show what the masses can do if they get together.......
Glad you like them! I do as well.

Best regards,
Jeff

She does look gravid . Beautiful animal. It`s possible if she go`s she might drop some solid florescent orange baby`s. I only raised a handful of the orange baby's but they all grew up to be really nice iridescent golden snakes. One thing the baby's can be tough starters on rodents but they slam anoles.

As a side note I once read something written by Charles Darwin. I wish I could remember where. In this he talked about keeping Ruschenburgii. He didn't call them that but he did describe the snakes and talked about collecting them on Trinidad. He also talked about a female giving birth at his place.

Ernie,
Thanks!
I loved your PB album-especially the Haitian Boa giving birth. I think 2 of my Haitian females are gravid-looking forward to stressing out over getting them all started on anoles.
You do not by chance have any Ruschi's? If not, do you know where yours went?
I also have 1.2 adults of the blacktails but did not get anything out of them this year-looking forward to trying again next year.

Thanks again,
Jeff

" You do not by chance have any Ruschi's? If not, do you know where yours went? "

Hi Jeff, I got out of them about fives years ago. I'm pretty sure Ben Seigel got the last of my litters. The adults went to other dealers. I sold quite few but like the clouded boas they all seemed to vanish in a short time. From what I`ve seen patternless Trinidad Ruschenbergerii seem get much larger then the mainlands. Even the blacktail looking ones off the Island were always smaller.

The Haitians are another fussy one that prefer lizards as baby's if they take anything.

Actually Haitian Boas and many other species of insular Epicrates set up properly are NOT difficult to feed at all. I've bred even Epicrates gracilis to f-3 generations with little problem. Ectothermic prey is prefferred by neonates with most species and a couple like gracilis feed on them thu-out their life but they present little problems if one has a bit of experience with them....
