Candoia B. Australis cannibalistic?

nm2612 Sep 02, 2009 02:40 AM

Does anyone keeps Candoia B Australis in groups/pairs? I was considering buying a nice couple from a friend, he kept this adult pair almost 1 year together. Unfortunaly last week the female ate the male. I have heard these stories about young Paulsoni but never Australis.

Freaky but unfortunaly reality, the female ate the male. When my friend entered his snakeroom he only saw the tail of the male hanging out.Do you keep Australis together or separed?

I have C. bibroni bibroni, the Fiji Boa, which seem to be very closely related to australis, and I have three in one tank: two males and one female. No problems at all.

They tend to sit in one big pile and share hides and actually seem quite sociable (for a snake). However, they are all about the same size, don't know if that makes a difference at all.

(As ever Jerry, stunning photographs!)
