Fungus/blister on bottom of 3 strip mud

aokadam Sep 09, 2009 03:33 PM

Hey all I have a few three striped muds, all wild caught in a waterland turtle tub. Ive noticed a 1-2 of my turtles always stay on land and barley ever go into the water. I thought they would just be hibernating or something but I looked under and they have a wierd redish looking fungus/blister thing (there are a few spots on the bottom of the turtle). Any ideas of what is causing this and how do I fix it?

The pict. is a little out of focus but it looks like a wound from a rough substrate. You should take it to a vet if you can. I also place my wounded on damp paper towels(in plastic tub) as to avoid the dirt/substrate increasing chance of furthering the infection. dab some iodine on it for few minutes. I also use melafix in shallow water(again in the turtles private tub.
