Difference between Texas and eastern?

Hello.
Can someone tell me the visual difference between erebennus and couperi?
I´m having a hard time telling them apart.

Thanks

The best way to tell is the 1st and 3rd upper labial touch on the eastern and do not on the Texas. I have had Texas indigos years ago that were almost impossible to tell the difference. But in general...the western indigo will not have the red on the chins like the easterns as the westerns tend to be orangish yellow and will have more mottling on the body with a tinge of brown to them when seen in the light. Both are magnifecent animals!!!

What does the 1st and 3rd upper labial touch?
I can´t see any difference in scalation between the two.

The first and the third come in contact with each other at the top on the eastern indigo and in the texas indigo those two labials do not make contackt with each other.

It may be me, but i can not see it. I have looked at many pictures of both, but the first and third upper labial, don´t connect in any of them.
Can you post a picture of both where it´s visible?
The first upper labial would be the scale just behind the rostral scale right?

No, the 1st would be from the corner of the mouth and you would count upwards as you moved from the back to the front.

click the Photos tab and then search texans and then easterns, I think you will see that the two look nothing at all alike, texans are brown not black and the chin is beer bottole brown not red or maroon or coral.
