Thinking of getting a Nikon D90....

Z_G_Reptiles Dec 14, 2009 04:03 PM

I'm thinking of getting the Nikon D90 and the one I was looking at comes with a DX Nikkor 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens but I believe it is manual focus, what are your opinions on using a manual focus apposed to using an auto focus when taking pictures of Herps, eventually I plan to up get a nice macro lens but for now for general pictures how would this lens work or should I throw out the extra money and upgrade to an auto focus, this will be my first DSLR and I'm still learning

Thanks for your input

With closeup/macro work, manual focus is generally easier. I wouldn't hesitate because the lens is manual focus (unless your eyes are getting bad like mine!).

Do some research into the lens online. A lot of those super zooms aren't sharp. Some of the Nikon ED glass is great, some isn't.

Thanks Chris for the info, I'm trying to get as much info as possible before I make the decision but I'm almost certain that this is the set I'm going to decide on and save for a nice macro lens for the future

Thanks
