Hi guys am looking for some help one of my female uros is sick any ideas on the cause I've put some pics on here.

Ok so have been keeping and breeding uros for about 5 years so I know what am doing this is from a pair that I got from somebody about a year ago and to be fair I only got her because I felt sorry for her, her leg was missing all of the scales and also both sides of her neck she was in a very poor state.
So last year I didn’t Brumnate Her but did this year first time I've seen her since lowering the temps and she looks like this.

Am going to get her to a vet but am struggling to find one near me that deals in reptiles, am bathing her in a tamodine bath each day and have changes her timing back to a full day, she still seems to eat very well and when there eating they get a very mixed and varied diet.
Have any of you guys seen this before if so what is it and how was it resolved

Thanks in advance

Matt

Yeah get that baby to a Vet as soon as ya can. Looks like a type of blister disease. The mouth looks extremely sore, infected, the way she is hanging it open almost looks like MBD, but I do see sores or what appears in the pic as sores.

I'm sorry she is sick, but woudl not waste any time in getting her seen. If indeed it is blister diease it spreads and is quite painful to them.

Let us know how she does

Hi Matt, since it does look like a manifestation of blister disease what is the humidity in both the room and the cage?

matt_harwood Dec 30, 2009 11:46 AM

Hi it was very low, however Since I have been leaving them to go through there winter cycle it might have creeped up, something I need to check on asap. she is now in a cage all to herself with the full 11 hours of light a day and haveing tamodine baths until I can get her to see a vet sometine in the next week or so.

The humidity usuaully does go up in the winter and blister disease is often assoaciated with moisture/humidity or unsanitary conditions. You didn't regularly soak the animal which isn't usually a good idea with Uro's?

No She was never bathed or soaked, however I am at presant soaking here in a strong Tamodine bath each day and then drying here and covering the worst effected areas with zinc oxide cream with tamodine mixed in but will be getting her to the vets in the next few days. so hopefully can get some antibiotics.

If at all possible keep the tail dry and not soaked. It tend s to trap moisture in the scales then you will have a case of tail rot to go along with the blister disease!

here is some updated pics of my sick little girl looking 100% better even starting to grow new scales were there was none before, she went to the vets and had some antibiotics and antibiotic cream not sure if this helped as the vet said she had never seen anything like it before. Am a happy camper hopefully she will continue to improve. shes going to stay in the homemade hospital viv for the coming months.
