Moving 12 hrs away help

rottenweiler9 Dec 29, 2009 12:30 PM

Hello,

Has anyone moved their snakes with their house. If so how did you do it. Did you pack them up that morning or that night, and did they ride in the moving truck or in your car. Also, my male is about 13 ft, what can I put him in? I also have to move a 8ft retic and another 8ft boa and smaller snakes below.

Thank you

Jeff

My snakes were the last thing I packed away. I just put everybody in pillow cases and set them on the floorboard of my truck.

I just moved about 2 weeks ago but it was only about 5 miles down the road, I put the smaller snakes in pillow cases and my larger snakes such as my 14' burm 9-10' retic and 8' yellow conda I just put in rubbermaids and duct taped the heck out of them to make sure they couldn't get out and they were the last thing I packed

or you can use full body pillow cases for the large one's which my wife did with our burm when it was about 10' to move it 9 hours away and put it on the floor board of her car.

I didnt think about the full body pillow cases, that would be perfect for a big snake.

They work OK to about 7-8' on a slender snake. My 8' boa's too bulky though. You wouldn't think it would batter but it does.

SLEEPING BAGS WORK TOO, you might have one already. It could help with it being so cold. I had to move 22 LARGE tortoises and 60 juvies once, they were harder than the furnature! LOL Vic

it's a PITA but what I do is break down the cages the day before. Animals all go in pillowcases or rubbermaids overnight and I transport them that way in a van.

Moving sucks

FOR MOVING THE SNAKES I SUGGEST GOING TO A ARMY/NAVY STORE AND GETTING MILITARY DUFFEL BAGS FOR YOUR BIG SNAKES FOR SAFE TRANSPORT THEY DO WORK I HAVE USED THEM FOR MY SNAKES
