Crested Gecko Intergrade regrows tail

lance_portal Mar 08, 2010 02:50 PM

In Dec. one of my Sara X Crested intergreades that needed its tail removed for health reasons, it was looking bad and didnt want the tail to become more infected, so i removed it unknowing at the time it would regrow. After about a month, the tail started coming back. AS far as i know this is the only case. I do have other intergrades also that have crested bloodlines that have lost tails and never regrew (chahoua X crested). As of today its about an inch long and is starting to get color back to it(has been growing back a black color like gargs and saras). The pic is when 1st seen the tail regrowing, will try to get a new pic tonite so you can see, its about half the size of a normal tail. thanks..lp

I have a crestie that had lost about 1/6 of her tail and regrew it. I've heard of other cresties regrowing parts of their tail if it's close to the tip. What I find unusual is the fact that yours is closer to the base. I'd be interested to find out exactly how much of that tail will get regrown. With mine, the only difference is the missing grip pad at the tip of the tail and the slight discoloration.
