contact for wormman

tahafisaka6 Apr 30, 2010 05:30 AM

Does anyone have a contact to be able to get ahold of someone at wormman com with?

I placed an order a long time ago and originally was told they were changing management but it would be sent, i have never received this order as of yet, and I have sent several requests through their contact us form which has not been replied to at all. It is a shame as I used to recommend them to other breeders, but I am shocked at they way this is being handled. I am hoping it is just a misunderstanding as maybe for some reason I am not getting their response through my email, so I just sent another request, with a new email address from a different provider all together to see if I can get a response this way.

Thank You,

Jeff Leverett

With any business that changes management...alot of chaos ensues. There may not be anybody around even checking emails. Have you pre-paid for the crickets? If so, if its a check or credit card/paypal payment...see if its been withdrawn and if not, cancel it. If it has, then definitely continue to attempt to make contact. Have you tried their phone number? (assuming there is one listed on their website? If not, try the business directory online for a contact number).

Yes, I have been charged for the order. This order was placed over a year ago, so even with their chaos they should have been able to catch up by now. No phone number listed on their site. I have made several attempts through their contact us form which is the ONLY way I see to contact them on their website, and I get no response what-so-ever. Usually, I send them a request on their site, and I give them plenty of time to respond, and I usually forget, although I do check my emails frequently enough that if they had have responded, I would have seen it. I used to be able to log into my account with them and could see the order with the status on there of being "Held due to Weather". I think after a year they could have been able to ship due to weather. They told me that it was because they were changing management though. So I did get a response at first, but that was quite a while ago. Now I get nothing. Has anyone else had this issue with them? It's not a big order, probably around $40. I would have to look at my correspondence with them for full details, and that is on one of my other computers.

Actually I set up a new account with them again using the same information as before and I can see my old activity with them.

Order placed Sept. 5, 2008.

Status: Order Held Due To Weather

Paid: Yes

Hmm, the moment I heard they were under new management probably would have been a good time to cancel your order and get refunded, or see if you could have gotten the name of the manager...2-4 months would have been the longest needed to not ship due to weather...unless you live up in the arctic or Sahara desert.

When I had insects shipped to me up here in Canada, only really a short period of time when weather is so cold shipping anything live would be foolish.

At this point you may have to write off that $40 as gone...but I would still try and get in contact with the new management. You could also try yellow pages online for any new contact numbers (or any info) about the business itself.

Being bored, I decided to do a little research and came up with the following info about the wormman...

Mailing Address:
PO Box 6947
Monroe Township, New Jersey 08831 (United States)

Phone: (732) 656-0369
Fax: (212) 202-5162

I don't know how current this info is, however. But upon searching the website, I did find a name, Ken Chiarella. However, this seems to be the name of the original owner...so phone number above may be for him and not the new manager. The new manager may be named Racquel but haven't found a last name for him/her.

The website doesn't look all that great in Firefox...not sure if its just not optimized for Firefox, or their formatting is really messed up. But bad webdesign doesn't mean a bad company...but after a year, your order definitely should have been sent long ago.

Thanks for the information. I tried calling the number but it was disconnected. I called the number listed as a fax and it sounded like a fax answered so maybe I can fax them a letter as well. I have also just emails a letter to wormmanworms@yahoo.com.

I just don't understand why it is SO hard to get ahold of this company especially being it is one of the featured advertisers on this website. You would think a company that this is their business would be able for someone to reach them.

Thanks,
Jeff Leverett

I think you are correct though that the $40 is probably a lost cause. From everything I see on the website, Ken is still listed on their active website. They appear to be actively advertising as they are on here with kingsnake.com as well we listed as a sponsor for this forum.

Oddly enough I just did a search with the better business bureau and it shows in the last 36 months they processed 100 complaints for this company, I'm sure there must have been even more issues then just those. Out of those complaints, only 15 state were resolved. Of the others 78 are listed as "Company is out of Business". 3 with "Company can not be Located".

Here is a link to the BBB:
http://www.bbb.org/new-jersey/business-reviews/earthworms/worm-mans-worm-farm-in-monroe-twp-nj-26002854

Now if for some reason they had filed bankruptcy or something along those lines, they still are not responding to current requests for information at all.

So with all this information and knowing they have cheated a lot of people out of their money, I will no longer do any business with them or recommend them for business.

In my own research I did notice more recent complaints...but also compliments too so not sure what is going on. If hte company is in the middle of a bankruptcy or change of ownership things could be in a huge mess on their end too...though still no excuse to take money but fail to deliver goods.

In your situation, its obviously they are not going to complete the order you had a year ago and I expect you found other sources for insects since then...probably best to keep sending the odd email/fax but use another supplier for your current needs. If eventually the company does respond, hopefully they send you what you order.

I am lucky that I have a insect/rodent supplier who lives about 10 minutes from me and delivers to my door. His prices are good, as good as other suppliers I have used in the past or very close...but the fact he has free shipping, makes up the difference. (free shipping to areas close to his home of course). Insects and rodents are all good quality too and he also sells live rodents, which is very beneficial for stubborn feeders and when I need to refresh my small breeding group (though thinking of just getting rid of my rat colony...getting tired of caring for the rats, cleaning etc.)

Hopefully you do find a better supplier in your area.

I would suggest taking the owner of that company to small claims court...but really not worth the trouble for $40.
