bought in the last 6 weeks an '09 pair weighing about 400 grams - thats kool - then bought an advertised '08 3 ft male which turned out to be a 4 ft 1400 gram beast - then in attempting to buy him a girl bought and advertised "late '08 female" and got a 2 1/2 ft 225 gram girl - so the moral of the story is - always ask WEIGHT - a decent digital scales on ebay cost 15 bucks - i'm amazed at the breeders/sellers who can't tell you weight - any comments - and on this subject - i still need a female - has to be docile - no less than 1400 grams - know about any, please let me know by email at robeyeshua221@comcast.net or by forum reply - thanks

Weight can be misleading at times. Which is one reason I rarely buy herps online. I want to see the animal in person and be able to hold it. Maybe I am just old school in that respect.

There is a lot of difference between a 1400 gram BP than a 1400 gram Dum. An 4ft, 1400 gram '08 male Dum is still a sub-adult, a BP the same size is ready to breed. I do not recommend breeding any Dum under 4yrs old, not matter what size it is. Dums are slow to mature.

But that is just my opinion, based on my experiences.

thanks - i appreciate your reply and others - i'm just a little frustrated - i'v bought 3 snakes lately - all advertised as 3 footers and they ranged from 2 1/ ft to 4 ft and from 225 grams to 1400 - its nuts - so - i have learned my lesson - i have decided to quit searching so hard - i have spent many hours literally online - and to wait for the right dum to come along - everyone i have inquired with either has babies or 5 footers - and i have heard some of the craziest stuff about what they "say" they have - i'm in no hurry to breed whatsoever - just want a nice gal to go with my male and kinda raise 'em up together - not too many expos or big shops in my area - i will go to sheperdsville this Sunday at kentucky reptile expo - maybe she will show up there?? - thanks again

Tis the reason why I don't buy online. You never know what you getting until you get it.

As far as breeding. Don't breed for the money. Breed them for the fun of it. Its alot more rewarding.
