UPS is horrible

Not sure who to get upset with, but bought a snake on kingsnake and the guy shipped it on 11/10 yesterday ups next day air saver to my home instead of next day air. He dropped it off at 9 AM and ups delivery to my home is always between 6-8 Pm.
Went to local ups hub yesterday at 10:00 AM as soon as they opened with the tracking number. Stressed to them I needed the package held at the hub due to the delivery time. The lady said she put it in the computer and it will be held at the hub. Well checked tracking and it said out for delivery 8:15 AM. Called ups and was told it is out for delivery and there were no notes for it to be held at hub. Not happy/ Sure hope the litle guy survives being on the truck this long. I am really hoping I can get someone at the house to except the package now.
Guess I should have checked with shipper on how he was sending it out.

How is this the fault of UPS? You have a beef with the sender of the package. You should be getting after them. Having UPS process the package as it was booked does not make them "horrible".

I can understand your frustration, but you gotta point that in the right direction...

Yeah you're right. They just should not have told me they will put a hold on it to keep at the facilty for pick up, then send out on the delivery truck anyways. In the end though they did contact the driver and I was able to meet him and pick up teh package at a good time. Snake was a little cold to the touch (no fault of ups on that) but very nice and healthy.

No reptile should ever be shipped with a service level lower than Next Day Air 10:30 commit. NDA Savers commit at end of day for residences and 3pm for businesses. Your vendor did you a great disservice in saving themselves six whole dollars on your shipment. a NDA Saver gets the package to the delivery hub the next day, but a NDA 10:30 commit puts the delivery time before 10:30AM or else that driver faces discipline. Believe it.

I've had three bad experiences with UPS here in NYC the past 2 yrs. First two were too lazy to wait for elevator man in the am and left, they did list the pkg. as "delivered" on the UPS website though. Managed to catch UPS guy on these 2 occasions after 6pm., leaving my bldg. with pkg in hand. Elevator guy issues again . Managed to get to truck before he left and obtain pkgs. Never signed for either, just gave him some choice words. Third time pkg. never made it to plane transfer on time or? Cancelled order and pkg. made it back to sender with animals intact. Complaining to mgm't was a complete waste of time. Been using Fedex over 10 years and only had one shipment miss plane transfer to west coast. Pkg.made it on next flight intact. Complained to fed ex and they gave me credit immediately plus a freebie for next time.
Maybe UPS works outside NYC for most people, but not here.
