Floating baby 3 stripe

snakeeyes1618 Feb 24, 2011 05:32 AM

A teacher at the school I work at found a baby 3 stripe on campus stuck in a crack in the sidewalk. She came to me with it and asked if it would make a good classroom pet. i of course said it was much better than any slider she would get with the size requirements ect. Well she decided to keep it. I gave her tons of sites that would help and gave her the minimum requiremnets that the turtle would need. Well to make a long story shory all she did was put it in a small tupperware container with no lid and put it under an small lamp she had in her classroom. i politely told her that would take it untill she got the tank etc.

So I have it here now with all the requirments that it needs Having raised several other babies int he same set/up.

WOW this is turning out longer than i thought. oh well

Anyway the baby is floating on the surface and seems to not be able to sink to the bottom

Is there anything i can do for this?

Thanks

I've never seen a turtle not be able to work that out before. I've seen the problem. I would just make the water as shallow as possible and make sure there is plenty for it to grab on to so it doesn't tire and drown. Sticks, moss, rocks, etc.

Hopefully on here will have an answer. Good luck.
