Breeding TX Indigos

mycklb Mar 09, 2011 07:09 PM

My 4-yr. old female bred for the first time this year. She laid eggs today and it appears that only one is good. When should pairs be put together and how long should they be kept together? I put them together in November and saw breeding activity. I kept them together for a couple weeks and put them back together in December, the male did not show interest. Maybe put them together late-October and leave them through January (except for feeding)?

Thanks.

Michael

Your timing sounds right. I wouldn't leave them together all of the time. Placing your male with another male for several minutes, while female is in next cage, just before putting him in with female may stimulate him to breed more effectively.

Thanks Steve. Guess I need to find an adult male...
