The problem with cribos in San Antonio is that the Texas Indigo is listed as a Threatened Species. You might have a difficult time explaining to TPWD (who always come to the expo) that the animal you are selling is an Eastern or some other subspecies of melanurus.
I guess you could argue that melanurus melanurus looks different enough that they would let it slide, but I wouldn't want to have a table full of baby D. melanurus rubidus or other similar black cribo. You are just asking to be hassled.
I guess if you had Easterns with good paperwork you might be OK but I suspect most people wouldn't bother.

Bottom line is that Texas Indigos are the only ones that are protected in Texas. You may have to answer questions but, DO NOT let that stop you from having any of them besides Tx Indies.
Even Easterns, you do not have to have paperwork if you bought them in Texas, I do believe. You only have to have paperwork if you crossed state lines with them.

you need "paperwork" to sell/trade the easterns.....and this has to be done before the deal is completed.....if you legally own an eastern you can transport cross state lines.....EXCEPT....into states that protect indigos.....if you're traveling through....and are stopped.....WELL.....this would be a great court case....
