I have a 3yr old male retic that was interested in breeding rubbing on the glass trying to get out. He also was trying wrap himself trying to breed. I went to go check on him this morning and he seems like he is paralyzed or some kind of spinal injury. He moves real slow but sits for hours in the same spot. His body is responsive to touch but as far as his head it does not move at all. His eyes respond to movement but thats it. Anyone ever seen this?

This does not sound good. Males cruising and getting some nose rub during breeding season is within the norm. The description or wrapping around himself and subsequent lack of movement sound a bit scary. I would quarantine the animal ASAP. Do not want to sound alarmist, but things like IBD can wreak havoc on a collection.

No i know what your saying. I have seen IBD before. This guy just went crazy trying to breed himself.Took it to a vet and x-rays show a break on his spine near his head. Just never seen a snake get that hyped up to breed before.

Thats terrible. Is it treatable? I cant imagine a snake piuting itself through this just for mating. Makes me wonder if there if there is something else going on, maybe psychological.

No sadly had to be euthanized. I have worked with snakes a long time and have never seen this. I am thinking like you something else was going on and the breeding mode just heightened it.
It just sucks it was going to be my first year breeding my super dwarfs.:[
