How long out of water?

julirs Jan 03, 2012 08:06 PM

Here in Florida the temps have dropped into the 30's. I have a very large female slider that I had to bring in out of her outdoor enclosure. My question is: How long can I keep her out of water without risking her health. I currently have her in a tote in the garage with a heat lamp keeping temps in the low 70's. Temps are supposed to stay cool for the next few days.

I would just buy a medium to large rubbermaid container and put enough water in there to cover her shell. This set-up would be fine temporarily. I would not leave her completely out of water for more than 8 hours. Even if you have to put her in the bathtub for several hours a day would be ok.

Hope this helps
