Feeding Anoles to Ackie Monitors

alexestrada17 Jan 22, 2012 08:41 PM

Im in South Florida (Miami) and we have an abundance of Anoles, Since my Ackies are still babies, I thought it would be a good idea that around spring time, start to collect some adult Anoles to breed them and start a Captive production of feeder lizards for my Ackies, it would certainly add some nice variety to their diet.,Has anybody done this? Would it be a good addition to a diet of Insects (crickets, discoids, Superworms, etc.) and Mice?

Thanks in advance,

Alex

Short answer.
Not a good idea.
Not so short answer.
Crickets and invertebrates are a proven diet for Ackies. Why throw something into the mix that could cause concern?
Not to mention any parasites, disease, or horticultural toxins that the anoles could be carrying from living outdoors.
