rescued my first gecko

Not sure what the two bumps are after the rectum. One bump looks infected and open sore. Thinking it was impacted, I gave it a warm bath and put Neosporin on it. Know nothing about gecko's , so anything will help.

Thanks

Well the bulges are hemipenes. You have a male there. You do have some sort of an infection going on, but I don't think it has anything to do with impaction. Hopefully it's a surface issue and the soaking and neosporin will help. Good for you for rescuing a gecko in need!

Thanks, Yea I was hoping it was just a surface infection probable due to dirty enclosure and sand substrate, and probable the lack of correct temps didn't help either.

Wanted to suggest using paper towels for bedding.

OK Thanks, we are using news paper right now until we get it to our home. We were thinking about getting some reptile carpet, what do you think? We display all of our reptile, so we don't mind going the extra mile for our pets.

Still say paper towels. Easily cleaned, you can see everything coming off or out of the gecko and cheap.

K, makes sense. Thanks

Awwww, the poor little follow.

In my experience, they will heal themselves given time.

Just provide a decent environment (food, water, warm shelter) for him and he will do just fine.
