I was told the smell from the cat box can harm my Meyers. Is this true???

If the litter box is cleaned daily and no real strong ammonia smell is coming from it there shouldn't be a problem. If it is allowed to set several days the strong ammonia smell can cause respiratory problems (it can also cause problems in humans as well). A birds lungs aren't as strong as a humans of course so it would affect a bird before affecting a human but it can be harmful to both.
